Hi Kuba,Yes, this photo was taken for Feri in Gmunden Austria in potery market, I think that Feri,s camera had a conventional lens but I,m not sure Undoubtedly Feri,s camera is better than mine, Feri thought that the specks are glaze bubbles that explode, but I don't know

I don't know what causes the specks. But I have gotten these also in the past. Nothing like Jose's specks, which to me are beautiful. Mine have never appealed to me. I generally get them when combining iron oxide and titanium dioxide in those forms, in oxidation or reduction, it doesn't seem to matter. Obviously oxidation makes them more apparent solely because of the color.
When I use rutile, titanium and ilmenite to get the amounts of iron and titanium i want they are virtually gone.
Also when I sub the red iron for black iron they are barely slightly different, less i guess, but when I sub the red iron for yellow iron there is (not always) a drastic change, making them pretty much gone. Maybe the finer particle size helps the iron melt in there better?
It is hard to tell, but I "watch" my crystals often (every firing), and I believe the specks i get are not there as I start the crystal growing part, but are there by the end, and I haven't been able to relate it to temp. Again, very hard to tell for these guys. The crystals are much easier to see because they actually reflect the light.
If they are bubbles, they must happen early enough to smooth out because they have never been rough or "unpopped" for me, and if so, maybe I just cant see them til I hit the lower temps.

These specks appear to me as micro-crystals. Can see a nucleus, with spiked growth rings around them. Odd little creatures they are; but I still think they are a good effect rather intentional or not.
