Hi All I’m new to Ceramics. Would like to tap in to your collective knowledge. Thing is that I’ve developed a light that I would like to make with Bone China. The light has fine details that I suspect won’t work out doing with injection moulding or slip casting. I’m actually thinking about casting a block of bone china and the putting it through a CNC machine, after putting it to the furnace of corse. My question is would that process work on bone china? Wondering if the material is to fragile for this process. Please share your thoughts. Thank you

Will give you credit for asking one of the toughest questions. Your CNC machine would have be operated from a computer model if your light is that detailed. I know my hands are not that study to cut intricate details by hand. They make carbide bits, but would suspect a lubricant would still be needed to avoid chipping. Friend of mine has one that he cuts commercial signs from composites. Almost wonder if a composite block would be a better starting point. Bone China and T4 materials are widely popular across the pond in England. There are several videos online where bone china plates and pieces are being slip cast. Others on the forum would know more about china clay than I would.
