Keeping the shiny look after an acid bath

My pots get an ashy look on the surface after I soak them in acid. It brings the crystal definition out, but I wish there was a way to
keep the pot looking like it does when it's wet. I've tried paste wax and that helps a little but dulls after a while. I've also tried acrylic spray paint and it helps but dulls the buttery surface of pots that had a soft and shiny surface.
Any ideas?
