I received 200lbs of Frit 3110 a little over a month ago. I have test fired it nearly 20 times, with no crystal development. Even the old tried and true recipes are producing nothing. So this last test fire I mixed the exact same glaze recipe, except one had the last of my old 3110 stock. Same kiln, same shelf, same everything except old and new frit. Old frit did great, new frit produced nothing. Anyone else having problems with new inventory?

Hey Tom, I had done a 3110 frit comparison test a while back between different batches of the frit.... because they dont do a batch rinse with that frit so you get impurities from other frits occasionally.... i got pretty different results in color between three different batches and a loss of crystal growth in a fourth batch. it led me to the conclusion that it is a good idea to purchase a small amount of the frit when moving onto a new batch... noting the batch number when u purchase it, and test it first. if all is good buy the rest of the quantity u wanted for that batch number. if it isnt good test another batch number. Do all 4 sacks have the same batch number? That happened to me about 15 years ago, but I only had one sack. It was definitely the frit.

Ray: I went through all four bags after posting this. I threw it off the delivery truck without really checking it. All four bags were in fact 3110, but one of the four bags had a different batch #. So I opened it and fired a test: got crystals. The other three bags are going back, and in another 6-8 months when new inventory comes around, I will replace it. Thanks for the input. Tom

Sorry for the delay, just slipped my mind. I wonder how big the "batches" are. I get mine at Laguna, and I'm sure they sell a lot.It happened to you, and it happened to me, although some years back. A big supplier should check a batch when they get it in.

We use F75 from Fusion Ceramics in place of 3110. It is the same, and we have never had an issue with it. I don't know who handles it besides Fusion Ceramics. They are located in Carrolton Ohio. (Check the spelling ) Bill Campbell
