Another lithium mineral is eucryptite, lithium aluminum silicate, some fluorescent material has been made in the garage here. G

I had no luck finding any ground lepidolite either.but i did find that it apparently has magical powers ''Lepidolite is a mineral of the Mica group.
Chakras - Third Eye Chakra, Crown Chakra Zodiac - Libra Typical colours - Lilac, rose-violet
A “stone of transition”, Lepidolite assists in the release and reorganisation of old behavioural and psychological patterns, gently inducing change. It brings deep emotional healing, soothing and reducing stress and depression. Lepidolite dissipates negativity and insists on being used for the highest good. It activates the throat, heart, third eye chakras and the intellect. It opens the crown chakra, clearing blockages and bringing cosmic awareness. Lepidolite facilitates astral travel and accesses the Akashic Record. It helps to take you forward into the future, tuning you in to thoughts and feelings from other lives that are creating a blockage in your life now."

Jim:
As history recalls, Timothy Leary was selling products in the late 60's that produced " stone of transition." I also recall Jefferson Airplane writing a song about it, but you better " go ask Alice," I think she'll know.

Thanks Gordon, I will check into that one. Jose, I know you can get in europe, the story I heard is someone in the US pissed off someone in the main country in Africa that lepidolite comes from.
I remember now that the reason I wanted the lepidolite is because of the Rubidium and Cesium it has in it. I guess otherwise spodumene would be about the same
Jim, I don't know about all of that.........not pertinent to pottery I think

in in regards to Rubidium and Cesium , if you like Lithium ,Sodium and Potassium you should have more affection for Rubidium and Cesium as they are the most reactive and alkaline of the alkali metals well except for Francium which is extremely radioactive .and if you need to create a Bose–Einstein condensate its just the ticket

Paul: If everyone is wanting lepodelite so much, perhaps it should bring a ton in. Might work well with the Pemco 283 I just picked up at an estate sale. I did manage to locate about 1/2lb of lepodelite a semi retired potter had. I have a call into Reade Minerals in St. Louis, see what I can do.
-- correction: have a call into the Reade Mineral Rep who lives in St. Louis.

Tom, I would be interested...thx
Jim,
All those places on the map, some in the US and we cannot seem to get it, maybe exactly because it is the major source of Cesium and Rubidium.
I have a source for Cesium Carbonate and have close to 20 kg left if anyone wants some. It is being used to treat cancer, some people on their last days have gotten up from a death bed after Cesium treatment.
Like you said those are the two strongest alkalis Rb & Cs that you can work with.
Ever heard of geopolymer, what do you think these are:https://www.google.com/search?q=sacsayhuaman&client=firefox-b-1&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj9j_qEkNvXAhWkkOAKHV_1ALIQsAQIPw&biw=1168&bih=631#imgdii=rRnt6r0OGWrllM:&imgrc=bLEegPxf3VNSPM:

Paul: Reade shows lepidolite in their catalog: will let you know.
Jim.: should of hit my phone, would of headed over to SLU.
Laguna blends several of their products, plastic vitrox comes to mind. Wonder if materials could be blended to sub out lepidolite?

I have a pound of Cerium oxide i got for fuel cell experiment i never finished, didnt get anything dramatic in a crystal glaze did you? geopolymer reminds me of theory that clay minerals provided a scaffolding for primordial rna like polymers. As far as Sacsayhuaman I like it, always wanted my own fortress these days it might come in handy
