Can anyone tell me why Zinc Oxide varies in price so much? I am finding it online for 50lbs for 200 dollars or more and other places 100lbs is around 230 dollars.
Some of the numbers I am seeing is Zinc Oxide 910 (cheaper ones) versus Zinc oxide 946 or 950 (more expensive)

Suspect you are pulling up wholesale and retail sites. There are minor differences in pricing based on how the zinc was produced. Maximo 910 is sphalerite ore that is mined milled, and shipped. Other types of zinc are refined further, which increases the cost. Tom

Which of these types of zinc is best? More refined ones or the standard 910.. on the subject of zinc , i tried to calcine my own zinc to see if it would make a better crystalline glaze and could not tell the difference between the calcined zinc and using it straight out of the bag. Any ideas why it looked the same?
