With due deference and respect to those individuals who pioneered and perfected the application of pickling on crystalline glazes or who are further exploring the effects of acid or base: I for one would prefer to see the resultant piece rather than a photo of a bottle of chemical or a gas mask. Anyone, even me, can get an effective, relatively safe acidic solution with vinegar, salt and heat. The use of exotic chemicals or strong acids to get a solution with hydrogen ions is unnecessary, especially not recommended for those who do not understand the chemistry, hazards and hazard mitigation. Yours curmudgeonly, Gordon
