I have been playing in clay since 1974, but became more serious about honing my skills in 2004. A psychotherapist by trade, pottery became my therapeutic outlet...and art therapy. I have tried all types of techniques and glazes over the years, but find crystalline to be the most beautiful and challenging. ...I like unique and suprise. ..along with a healthy dose of disappointment and frustration
I have been doing crystalline glazes now for several years, premixed and recipes from various artists. I recently was juries into a co-op art gallery in a small historic town in sierra nevada california! Excited and a bit nervous because of my experience, and hopefully I'm not alone, of the fail rate of getting great pieces on every fire.
So my hope is to learn from those of you who have mastered this incredible process and to hopefully share a tip or two along the way.
Happy firing, Shoshana
