Yo Piper!,
Welcome to the big time.
I see you are the Moderator of the Help Board -- Getting Started with the New Crystalline Glaze Forum -- Questions and Answers -- User Tips -- Mysteries Explained.
Are you essentially the IT Guy?
I wonder if I can get your comments on a few things.
When I first looked at this Forum I was trying to figure out how to post photos. The first thing I tried was putting a photo in the forum's gallery. I was able to put a photo in there and it created a thumbnail with a link to the full size photo. You can see the thumbnail at the top of the post here. A little later I went back to look at it and the link didn't work. I think I was told this feature was disabled because there was a potential $ charge looming if a certain storage level was exceeded. Now I see the link works and when the thumbnail is clicked it opened up the original photo I put in almost as if the Gallery Feature was re-enabled.
However, I can't find a link to the gallery feature which makes me think it has been re-disabled. But the original hyperlink from the auto thumbnail now works making me think some IT geek inserted a link to it in the "hidden" gallery. Can you comment on this?
I can put up new photos, like these that are on my server:
Thumbnail
Full Size
I've been trying to get this thumbnail linked to the full size photo (like I could on the previous forum) but can't seem to do it: Is it possible to do this on this new forum and if so can you give me some pointers?
I think the original auto thumbnail feature by this forum's gallery was a great tool and can probably be re-enabled. Do you know what the cost to us would be to have the gallery and this auto thumbnail feature enabled?.

This forum allows inserting images. The images have to be hosted on a remote service, such as Photobucket.com. This forum allows links. You can type in text, and turn that text into a clickable link to whatever you want, such as a large photo. Here's an example: Phil's Sculpture PictureUnfortunately, you cannot insert a small photo, and make that small photo a clickable link to a larger version of it. At least, I can't do it, and I have spent plenty of time trying. For a short time, while this Forum was being initially set-up, there was an ATTACHMENT feature that would create a small thumbnail picture that was a clickable link to a large picture. This feature is currently disabled. The Attachment feature was excellent, but unfortunately, it costs money. This is a free forum. The software is free. It is hosted for free. The server space that it occupies is free. No one is paying me for my time, and I have spent MANY hours on it so far, with MANY more to come. As I said, the attachment feature was excellent. If someone wants to pay for it, I will re-enable it. The cost for 500MB of storage is $3 per month. That has to be paid EVERY month. If the 500MB gets filled up, then the next tier is 800MB for $6 a month. And so on: 1200MB $9 1600MB $12.60 2000MB $14.40 4000MB $30.40 10000MB $73.50 If I start at the $3 500MB level, and if one person who is unfamiliar with re-sizing pictures turns a single 500MB image into an Attachment, then we have used up all of our storage space, and we have to go up to the next payment tier. Or, I can spend my own FREE time re-sizing pictures that are too big. Even then, we will eventually have to go to greater and greater payment tiers. If someone says they will pay for the storage space, and then changes their mind after a couple of months, all attached photos will be lost. I just want everyone to know what is involved. The attachment feature was GREAT, I can re-enable it, but further discussion is needed, and someone has to pay for it. Thank you, -- William

Hi Phil! Sorry, have been a little busy this week.
You mean like this?(I hope it works haha... I haven't had much time to browse this forum and learn it yet...)
that would be your thumbnail, and it should be a link to the original. Unfortunately William is right, and hosting your images elsewhere sounds best. Which I believe means you would need an external program to make your thumbnails. The one above was both cropped and resized but I believe you created it from the original so I guess you already know that. You can however just resize the display of the original image like below...
I took a quick look into the other image on your other post and I can't seem to find the code for it. For some reason it is hidden to me. So I don't yet know what is going on with that. Give me some time though and I will hopefully be able to figure it out. Are you essentially the IT Guy? Yea I guess so. I always love a little bit of programming so I was totally down for the task.
Just a little background though... I went to school for, and got my BA in ART. I learned on my own as well as some extra schooling a bunch of animation software but I learned more the art side of it than the programming side of it. I had little to no programming experience going into my career field. While there (for about a decade) a larger portion of my peers were sorta the opposite. More programming experience and less art experience. Having a BS instead of a BA.
Anyhow, through them, I picked up quite a bit of programming over the years, even though I never had any formal training for it.
I think I've got a pretty good knowledge for this stuff, but I may not always have the answers. I will do my best to get them and will let you know when I cannot.

mohawkpiper, excellent job turning Phil's thumbnail pic into a link to the full-sized picture. As I wrote in my previous post, I tried and tried, but couldn't do it. I took a look at the code that you used, and i'd reproduce it here for all to see, except that it is a bit involved. Anyone willing to use that much code to make thumbnail picture links probably already knows how to.
Regarding the other image in Phil's other post, that was made while the attachment feature of this forum was active. I have turned that feature off for the reasons stated in my previous post.

So if you are comfortable with a little bit of code it isn't too hard. Here is how... Insert your image like you would usually by clicking the 'insert image' button... Then copy and past the URL of the image you want displayed in the text box for "Image URL:" Then go down and click on the tab that says "BBCode".... You then get something like this. Find the line of text that has your image link in it. Here is the code for my image... [img alt="" src="http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l584/mohawkpiper/IMG_1151_zpsok08m5ao.jpg~original" style="max-width:100%;"] To change the size of your image you will need to edit the part of code that says this... style="max-width:100%;" to this style="max-width:20%; max-height:20%;" The percentage is obviously the percent of the original image so put in a percentage number you feel fits well. Alternatively you can do pixels if you know the pixel size you want your new image to be for example style="max-width:200px; max-height:150px;" (I haven't tested this yet to make sure it works, but it should...) after that you need to add some code before and after this code block. this goes before... [a href="(put the url of the link of the image you want here. In most cases it should be the same url as the image itself.)"] and this goes after... [/a] so it should look something like this.... [a href="http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l584/mohawkpiper/IMG_1151_zpsok08m5ao.jpg~original"][img alt="" style="max-width:20%;max-height:20%;" src="http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l584/mohawkpiper/IMG_1151_zpsok08m5ao.jpg~original"][/a] To make it look not so scary i will replace the actual link with the word "link" just so you can see. Though it needs the actual link to work, but look how less scary it is. From this... [img alt="" style="max-width:100%;" src="link"] to this.... [a href="link"][img alt="" style="max-width:20%;max-height:20%;" src="link"][/a] Then that's it! Click "Create Post"! And here is my cheated thumbnail version that you can click on to the original image!

It it makes it any easier, you can skip inserting an image altogether.
Just click the BBCode tab and copy and past this line of code into there...
[a href="link"][img alt="" style="max-width:20%;max-height:20%;" src="link"][/a] then change the word "link" to your actual image location (keeping the quotes). Make sure to do it in both places.
Change the percent number to what you would like, if need be.
That should do it.

Kuba, The "preview" tab is the tab you should be on by default. It is generally what your post will look like to the viewer after you click "create post". If you are on the "preview" tab and you insert an image using the "insert image" button, (after you paste your link in the link box and then click "insert image",) your image then should show up right in front of you instantly.
So I guess, as long as you are on the "preview" tab and not the "BBCode" tab, the preview is always working.
Hope that helps.
If I didn't explain properly just say so!
