Some of you were at the Lattice Structures event in Kansas City back in 2005, and will remember Jesse Hull, the very fine Potter who created the event and first brought together a large group of crystalline potters for an exhibit and conference. It was a magical time and Jesse did a downright perfect job on the entirety of the event - just as he sought perfection in all he did. It was a superb weekend and friendships were made thanks to Jesse that have endured. His actions in bringing our community together touched many of our lives. Some of us from this Forum first met at Lattice Structures, and we have been coming back together ever since - still Jesse brought something to that event that I'm not sure could ever be replicated. Well, tragic news came yesterday, that our dear Jesse is gone following a long struggle with depression. The loss of this vibrant spirit and brilliant mind is so difficult to comprehend.
Jesse made gorgeous crystalline pots, and some of us have his exquisite work in our collections, as well as memories of our time with him, and so will get to keep him close. Sending loving thoughts of Jesse, his many talents and generous spirit at this very sad time.

RIP Jesse... bless you for passing along the knowledge. Tom
For those interested: I have been in contact with the University City Pottery Museum in St. Louis. For those who know the history: Taxtile Doat worked there from 1903 - 1912 teaching and developing crystalline glaze. Some of his pieces are still on display there. Back to my point: I have been trying to arrange a combination of historical, and modern works to be displayed in a commemorative show. I have also been in contact with the St. Louis Museum of History- which the University Museum also receives funding from. This idea, which I am trying to get scheduled during September- coincides with a week long St. Louis Art annual art walk. Hopefully I can get this pulled off- if I do- would be a great place to display some of the finest works among all of those on the forum. In addition, should make for one great place to make sales.

My phone rang this morning.
It was Uncle Phil. He told me the news.
Tough to believe.
I met Jesse at Krystallos 2007 at Bill Campbell's place, and then again at Uncle Phil's Reduction Symposium.
He and I had quite a few laughs posting on the Forum before the one before this one.
I always missed that dude and often wondered what he was up to.
His contributions will last forever.

I'm so sorry that Jesse is gone. I too have missed him and have thought about him over the past few months -
