Woohoo! I got my first crystalline piece out of the kiln, and though my application was terrible, the crystals themselves don't look half bad! I finalized the formula to this: 50% ferro frit 3110 25% zinc oxide 19.5% Silica 325m 5.4% Lithium Carbonate .1% Titanium Dioxide The particular piece was colored with 6% Manganese Dioxide, which I now know is way too much. I should include that this is a cone 5 glaze, and I performed no holds in the firing of this particular piece. drive.google.com/open?id=1v6EgG262oxdssQpTfqAbxMp2-46YBlYb

Way to go Jack! Considering that there were no holds - this is impressive. Imagine how those crystals will grow when you get a chance to program in hold times!

Well done (that is, the journey to this point). You might consider seeding to get bigger crystals, and improve the chance of getting them in the first place. Seeding uses small bits (on the order of 30 mesh) of zinc oxide, for example, or hemimorphite.
