Hello, I am new to crystalline Zinc oxide macrocrystalline glazing in that I have tried a couple of times to get macrocrystals and have achieved adventurine tiny crystals. I think my kiln wouldn't get hot enough for the cone 10 recipe. I have bought a better electric kiln and a couple of books and hopefully will slowly get the thing hot enough and will have better results. I also would love to get the Willemite crystals I have seen on some photos but can't seem to find a source for the willemite or erbium or whatever raw material will yield those crystals. Any information I can find about whether reducing at low temps to keep the zinc but alter the colors will quickly damage the elements or not? I have been throwing and handbuilding for years but not a whole lot. Any suggestions to successfully make those matt crystalline glazes with the huge crystals would be very much appreciated. I am happy to have found this site. Thanks for being there. Are you in the Netherlands? I have been to Amsterdam and Delft and Rotterdam just touring around.
