Thanks so much, Greg. I see what you're saying and will go back to the testing with renewed vigor. lol
As for the glaze being too old. I used to mix up big batches and use them over several firings. Now I just mix up a little more than I think I'm going to need for that day's glazing. Maybe 500 to 1000 ml at a time.
I'll give the with and without lithium a try next and do another similar test piece glazing half and half so I know the firing is exactly the same (well, at least on the same level not accounting for differences from side to side in temp...hahaha).
My last show of the year is this Saturday so I'll have more time to experiment and test. Now if I could just get rid of that pesky real job so I could play potter all day every day.
I'm also questioning my T/C. This one got corroded fairly quickly and I'm thinking I may be getting more heat work. I have a new one, but wondering if getting a protection tube for it will help. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks again, Morgan

I wouldn't quit right away this economy still sucks I'm still seeing stores closing i had 2 long time store owners tell me they were folding it up this week, this is not good for business No worries about that, my friend. Even if I was crazy enough to think I could make it on pottery alone my wife would NOT be happy if I quit the day job. I keep hoping that one day this long term crappy economy will turn around. Sure don't see any signs of it. I'm a freelance furniture designer as a second career. In 2004 when I first went out on my own I had 5 client manufacturers who all made most, if not all, of their furniture in the US. Since that time all of them began closing plants and shifting the product to Asia to the point where NONE of the furniture was made in the US. Now... Only one is still in business. Even if the economy does magically turn around it would be near impossible to open those plants back up. Once they close the doors if they want to reopen they have to comply with all of the most current EPA and OSHA rules. Just too expensive to modernize. Sorry for the rant. I know this isn't the forum for this sort of thing. But my pottery sales aren't all THAT far behind my design royalties.
