Bill, I agree its been a long time since anyone has been posting here that I have seen. Hope it is not a trend that our conversations have gone else where. Jeff W

Hey Bill,
I still check the forum too, but I see a lot more activity from crystalline glazers on instagram. Mostly updates on what people are busy with and results from good fires.

Nope not much discussion on this site. I think there are many who may have joined had not not been crystalline groups created on facebook and postings on instagram. Think a big issue is posting photos - so much easier on other platforms. I see the same thing happening to the good ole Clayart listserv group - can't post photos there.... I've written to William a few times using only email I have for him to ask some questions - never a response. I'm afraid folks in this forum may slowly drift away....

Bill: I agree with the photo issue. This site leans to the technical side, while most lean towards the days' accomplishments. Tom

Loving greetings to all!

Nice tall bottle. The lilac crystals are intriguing. G

yea... social media has definitely taken away. i hardly ever check in here any more. actually i dont think ive even thrown anything in over two years now... and not being on social media, well, my crystalline has sorta subsided. its a bit sad, but its all still out there. the world is just changing a bit. agreed on the photos thing. but to easily put photos on here someone has to pay up. $$

Very nice photos. It would be good to know what cone you fired them at.

Hi! I am a novice ceramist from Russia. I just recently started doing crystal glaze. One friend told me about this forum. I didn't quite figure it out. I write through a translator, as I have problems with English. I hope you understand my questions and can help. I use porcelain. Crystal glaze based on our Frit. Its chemical composition is similar to 3110. Frit-480 g
ZnO-250 g quartz-220 g lithium carb-30 g kaolin-25 g
TiO2-1 g. Roasting on a 6-cone (1230C) - exposure of 9 minutes, then about an hour cooling to 993C-exposure of 4 hours, then 20 minutes of temperature rise to 1040C and exposure of 2 hours. The crystals are rare, but small in size. How do I grow more of them? help please. I can't figure out how to attach a photo, I hope you will see a photo of one of my products on my avatar.

Welcome vasilisa, hopefully the cone 6 folks will comment on your specifics and on TiO2. In general, seeding will enable larger crystals. (See the previous thread on how to make willemite seeds.) Copper is thought to promote larger crystals. Cheers, G

Hi Vasilisa,
Your kaolin seems too high for a cone 6 crystalline. Small crystals may be due to the glaze not being fluid enough.
