Jim:
The only bad thing about posting scientific links: I actually read them. To quote: "and (3) an ionic bond, in which electrons are transferred from one atom to the other.".. REDOX. and "It is possible to predict the type of bond that will form between two elements." and that my friend is the gold nugget I have been trying to find.
"was the frustration that arises from a finite mind".. back in the 60's we called that-- burned out. Thanks for the link: for me its not the destination, but rather the journey. Crystals are the jig saw puzzle with a couple of pieces missing: but I will find them eventually. Hopefully next weekend you can ride the wind.Enjoy!!

I had an "infinite" mind back then

Jim;
When an article starts with temperature rated in Kelvins: pretty much tells you they are exploring some seriously dense materials. Ever notice in these articles that colleges are doing the experimenting, then it comes back to business application/s? I propose we take up a room collection to pay a college to formulate the perfect crystalline glaze: then we can sell it to each other wholesale.

Jim: Here are some classic examples of density:
1. That little pooch that hangs over your belt, preventing you from seeing your shoes. 2. A superlative your wife uses when she is trying to call you stupid, in a politically correct setting. 3. My deceased grandmothers carrot cake. 4. My IRA account prior to Sept. 2008. 5. My mental condition during Woodstock. 6. The thought going through dads' head while signing my report cards. 7. Political comment not allowed by forum rules. 8. A 6.5 bag concrete mix. 9. Those who stayed up to 12:01 AM. Jan 1, 2000: waiting for the Y2K bug. 10. Those reading this post up to this point. (Gotcha)
Last week we discussed "cool," this week we are discussing "dense," next week it is "gas." Which by the way can be produced and released in a variety of ways.

Jim:
Should have some test pics for you shortly- if I can get them to post. Been playing with aluminum oxide for glaze control. I got one piece out today that I painted in a quadrant: each section stayed in place. However, my temp was about 15 degrees too low. Going to fire the same test tile again: glazing in a quadrant- with seeding in the center.I had a very small crystal in the middle: but nothing to write home about. I processed regular alumina to remove impurities; then de-mineralized it. Lets see what happens. If nothing else, can at least put up the link. Looks promising, but you never know with this glaze.
