I'm a complete beginner in crystaline glazes, but I'm in pottery as a professional potter for about 25 years. I live on the island of Losinj in Croatia and it was impossible to obtain (the delivery would cost as much as the kiln itself) a proper electric kiln for firing crystalline glazes. So, I decided to made one! My desire to fire crystal glazes (which I had been wanting since I read the book Crystal Glazes by Fara Shimbo 15 years ago) was bigger than the insufficient knowledge of how to build electric kiln. It took me three months learning and planning and two months to build a kiln, but it's finally here! It's 380 V, 66 A, 15 kW, 170 liter kiln with Pixsys ATR 902 controller and 3 single fase solid state relays. I also made (programmed) UMF software - calculator - which helps me a lot in glaze formulations and glaze analyzes. While I waiting for the shelves to come, I write and analyze glaze recipes in the UMF software and I read this wonderful forum from page to page! I hope I'll soon be able to post here a photo of my first crystal firing (successful or unsuccessful). Happy firings to everyone! Guru. My FB page

Hi Guru:
If you can teach yourself how to build a kiln; learning to fire crystalline should not be a problem. Will be looking for your results in future posts. Welcome.
