WELCOME! to the New Crystalline Glaze Forum! As you may have noticed, the old board has become unstable and unreliable.
In order to keep the Forum going, I have rushed out this new one. I am still tweaking and de-bugging it, but we now have a reliable place to post.
It is going to take some getting used to, but in the long run, we are much better off here. This is a vastly superior forum compared to the old one.
Please bear with me as we get things running again. I appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Thank you, -- William Melstrom

William,
Thanks for stepping up to the plate and pulling this new forum together.
I've been trying to wrap myself around it for the last several days. My head is spinning. I'm sure it will get better over time.
For years I was able to refer to you as the Moderator to most of our cohorts and they all knew who I meant. I see now you are listed as Administrator along with mohawkpiper (Greg B). Arnie Benton and glennwoods are now Moderators and I'm listed as Global Moderator.
Can you explain the roles of Administrator, Moderator and Global Moderator?

Phil, thank you for the kudos. Change in life is a good thing. This Forum software and host is VASTLY superior to the old one. I predict that in a few days you will be completely at home here, and will forget all about the old forum except to occasionally ponder on how primitive it was. Like it or not, this IS the future. I have zero confidence in excoboard, the old forum host. ProBoards, the new forum host is the industry leader in Free Forums and is not going anywhere. Moderator: can edit and delete sub-forums they are assigned to Global Moderator: can edit and delete all forums Administrator: same as GM, but also has total control of the forum, including forum appearance and structure mohawkpiper was made Admin so that he could get into the HTML code of the forum and make appearance changes that were over my head. His assistance has been invaluable. Once we get the forum's appearance firmed up I will probably change his status to Mod.

William,
Thank you so much for doing this for us. The old forum was kinda dying and it was difficult to get on there sometimes. I love what you have done with it and it looks great. My favorite part is the image you have in the header. Amazing crystals!
And thanks for allowing me to dabble in the code under the hood. It has been fun.

William:
A big thank you for being a gracious host and expending your time and efforts. Thanks to Avi, Holly, Glenn, and several others for keeping us headed in the right direction. To all others not known to me ( insert name here).. TY. For those who do not know the history behind crystalline glaze: there were periods when it disappeared completely. So it's good to see that the love and passion for this glaze is being passed along.
Tom
William, thought you should know I checked on the old forum, it is still up. You placed a link to this new forum in the old forum to connect people here. When I clicked on it, it did not redirect me to here. Thought you should know, might just be a fluke, but none the less.

A huge thank you to William Melstrom. Your site has been such a huge source of inspiration for me - and such a motivator for going forward and not accepting what is average. I know that it takes so many extra hours for you running it and we are all so fortunate that through your effort you have made crystalline a less lonely journey - pretty neat to be able to contact people from all over the world over something beautiful and complex that we share.
Also, thank you to our other moderators, administrators, and such who have stepped up to the plate to make things work better.
BTW: For me, when I clicked on the link, it did redirect me directly here - possibly because I use a MAC, or possibly because I use the search engine Safari - sometimes that makes a difference.

Hello! I´m a new kid on the block....
I haven't seen the old forum, but I´m really happy that I found The New Crystalline Glaze Forum. I started w crystalline glaze for a few months ago. So I´m new in this. But I have been in to your website several times which has helped a lot. Here in Sweden where I live, there are hardly any ceramist that work w crystal glaze at all. I have bought books that I have been reading back and forth the whole summer. But I hope I can get some help from this forum as well. The problem is probably that when you started with Crystal Glaze, you can never go back to "normal" glaze.

Thank you William for constructing this new forum and also thank you to the administrators, moderators and participants of the new Crystalline Glaze Forum, this new format looks great and I'm sure that I will be able to learn plenty from all of you master crystalline artists out there.
With kind regards from an Aussie potter, Mike.
