flicker works... but it's a little bit more of a pain... see in the original post i added the image. I am looking into other sources... with flicker you need to copy the bbc code or the embed code from the share button (the arrow in the bottom right) then pull out the actual link from the code and paste that into the "insert image" button. embed:<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/129463735@N06/35263534610/" title="DSCN0943"><img src="https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4101/35263534610_236bf01304_z.jpg" width="608" height="640" alt="DSCN0943"></a><script async src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> using the https from the img src in this one bbc:DSCN0943 by vlyghtsn, on Flickr or the https from the img in this one the actual image link should be the same, which is... https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4101/35263534610_236bf01304_z.jpg i basically copied the link from flicker, then pasted the whole thing here in the reply section. Then copied just the link i wanted, deleted all that code, then pasted the link into the "insert image" button. If your link does not have an image extension at the end (like .png, .gif, or .jpeg/.jpg are the usual ones) then it is not an image stored on the web somewhere and will not work. There is a difference between a link and an image. I'll look into why Arnie's images still show up from photobucket but other's images dont.

woops forgot to do it on this thread like i said i would... so saying it again... Arnie, Are you positive you have never paid photobucket? Can you sign in, and click on the "plans" link in the upper right next to the "cart" link and see what it says on the page it takes you to? It will tell you your plan in the dark grey box on the left below the "your current plan" text. Does it say "free" with your storage amount? it's really weird because even signed in i cant see my photos except for a very few... like this one... EDIT: that image worked for a little while from photobucket. not anymore. not sure why... your account though is the only one i see ALL of them available. i wonder if they for some reason just haven't gotten around to making all their images not take into account the 3rd party hosting yet?

test can you guys see that? if so i take that back about the extension having to be there. this is from google drive... i havent used google drive in like 10 years or something... so i am trying to figure this out... i had to set my settings to be viewable AND searchable on the web by anybody... then i had to click the image, go to settings and open in new window, then right click copy link location from there. you cant use the link sharing thing. the embed thing doesn't seem to work either...

ok so google drive is a little more complicated actually. a few minutes after i linked google drive ones they broke the link. The image above is done using the youtube video linked below. so i did a little research and google drive also removed 3rd party hosting some time ago i guess. so here is a link to a video about how to do it from google drive... www.youtube.com/watch?v=fD7LGl3IBFwhere is the webpage you need to go to to paste your google drive url into. gdurl.com/use that final link you get there as your image url.

ok guys, i don't want to speak too soon but the image above from photobucket has been up for few minutes now without a link breakage.
if it stays there, here is the solution to using photobucket...
when you paste your image link into the url box, add this at the end... "~original" (without the quotes)
so this ....
http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l584/mohawkpiper/IMG_8608_zpsj6ro81ev.jpg
goes to this
http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l584/mohawkpiper/IMG_8608_zpsj6ro81ev.jpg~original

here is another free site you can use if you don't want to use photobucket or whatever.. www.techpowerup.org/i haven't tried it. read that it's free, ads are minimal or nonexistent, but it does put a small watermark on your image.
